Toy Car Project

Description:

Over the course of the year, we learned the fundamentals of Computer Aided Design. In this specific project I used Solid Works to fabricate a miniature version of a functional car that we then took to the streets to compete in a race. I used the skills developed in my CAD course to design each individual component of the car sized to the desired dimensions. After creating the SolidWorks model, I completed a Bill of Materials and Engineering Drawings to provide more detailed communication and understanding of my design. I gained valuable experience in machining by using the lathe, vertical mill, 3D printer and laser cutter to bring my design to life and fabricate the physical model of the car. Pictured below are the CAD drawing of the car, the structural components of the car that make it functional, and then the full 3D printed version that we used on race day.
